On the 11th of November 1918 the hostilities of the First World War finally ended bringing peace after four years of brutal warfare. The Great War was the deadliest conflict in human history, with the number of military deaths estimated to be between 9 to 11 million.
Ireland had taken full part with about 200,000 Irish men and women serving during the War. Over 90% serving in the forces of United Kingdom while others were to enlist with the forces of Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. Their service and the sacrifice of nearly 35,000 young Irish men should never be forgotten
